Derek West
Physical Education Teacher
Derek is back at Edwin Parr Composite for a second year. He spent three years teaching in Bonnyville, Alberta while also playing for the Elk Point Elks Hockey Club. He then moved to Leduc, Alberta, where he taught and coached a hockey academy at Warburg High School. Derek graduated from the University of Ottawa with a BSc in Human Kinetics. After two years working as a kinesiologist, he returned to the U of O for his BEd with a specialization in Physical Education and Biology. After working as a personal trainer Derek, decided to begin his teaching career in the fall of 2013 in Garden River, Alberta. Derek is very excited to join the exceptional team at Edwin Parr Composite and looks forward to working with, and developing student athletes to help them reach their goals.
